CARE is a program at UC Davis dedicated to reduce the incidence and impact of sexual harassment and sexual violence. They provide confidential advocacy, support, and healing services to survivors of sexual harassment and all forms of sexual violence, including sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking. They also facilitate prevention programming and professional training for organization's on campus, educating about victim dynamics, impact of trauma, bystander intervention, and social norm change.

As CARE's Graphic Designer, I was responsible for supporting CARE’s mission by creating all of the graphics, including, but not limited to, social media posts, flyers, reports, curriculum graphics for programs (presentations, handouts), etc. I worked in collaboration with the Education & Outreach Manager, Training and Education Specialist, and Outreach Student Assistant who provided the content, initial concepts, and feedback.

BRAND IDENTITY

Refreshing the face of a good cause

As the primary graphic designer, I was undertook the task of refreshing the brand guidelines to create a more but still very playful and inviting aesthetic. This slide deck was created as an informative orientation for the next graphic design student assistant. It contains information about the organization and role, new style guides, color palettes, digital assets, examples of my work, etc. It was important for me to use this as a time to reflect on my growth as a designer working for CARE, and also to ensure the success of the our mission by passing down all the resources that helped me in this position.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Creatively designing information-rich imagery to capture a target audience

A large part of my role was collaborating with the Outreach Student Assistant and Educational Outreach Manager, bringing their content for social media campaigns to life in a way that captures our target audience, which is predominantly young college students. Creating captivating graphics to go with the educational content is important to keep our audiences engaged with these topics that are often stigmatized or misunderstood. The CARE instagram would stay active, posting 2-3 times a week, sharing our mission, information about awareness months and upcoming events, or positive affirmations.

Accomplishments:
Increased social media following by 37%, reaching an audience of +5,500 students, faculty, and and community members.

CURRICULUM GRAPHICS

Enhancing program content with demonstrative visuals

CARE facilitate's prevention programming and professional training for organization's on campus, educating about victim dynamics, impact of trauma, bystander intervention, and social norm change. It was my job to design advertisements for events, and handouts that would help program participants to interact with the material and start conversations.

Curriculum Graphics consist of visuals for program presentations, handouts, or diagrams. They follow the specified color palette and are used to make learning more engaging for our clients.

Accomplishments
My graphics in the Violence Intervention and Prevention presentation led by CARE during the 2023 Aggie Orientation was presented to an audience of +1,000 students
PROFESSIONAL REPORT

Annual report

At the end of the school year, this document is shared with the UC Davis Chancellor's Office and other partnered organizations in order to show progression in CARE's reach and interactions with clients and the utilization of its resources. The visual design is aligned with UC Davis branding standards and includes carefully crafted graphs and icons to visually demonstrate the impact CARE has on the community and illustrates the need for funding in this department. It also celebrates the accomplishments made in the year and reiterates CARE's mission to create a safer campus.
